Chelsea close to signing attacker that wants to work with Mauricio Pochettino
|Journalist Ben Jacobs has now claimed via Simon Phillips’ Substack that Chelsea will officially sign Estevao Willian from Brazilian club Palmeiras this week.
It is explained that the teenage attacker will sign for the Blues in a deal worth €65m (£56m). Incidentally, the South American wonderkid is still aged 17, so will have to wait until 2025 and his 18th birthday to join up with the Chelsea squad.
Jacobs adds that Estevao hopes he works under Pochettino when he does link up with Chelsea. Apparently, the Blues boss has already spoken directly with the imminent teenage signing.
The conversation between Estevao and Pochettino is the latest in a long list of reasons why Chelsea should keep their manager this summer.
It’s obvious with five wins from the final five games of the league season that Pochettino is finally starting to get a tune out of his Chelsea youngsters. Unfortunately, it’s just taken them some time to gel over the course of the season.
He’s well-renowned as a great coach of young talents, so we can certainly see the appeal for Estevao.
If Chelsea continue this path of investing in stars for the future, Pochettino may be the perfect man in the job at the perfect time.
