‘Done deal’ – Major Newcastle United transfer claim after Tosin Adarabioyo snub

Newcastle United transfers: Lloyd Kelly is supposedly set to join St James’ Park this summer.

Newcastle United has reportedly agreed to sign Lloyd Kelly for free this summer.

Kelly, 25, will see out his contract with AFC Bournemouth, which expires on June 30, and will be free to join another team. Newcastle are reportedly interested in signing the defender, who Eddie Howe previously recruited from Bristol City in 2019.

Liverpool and AC Milan have also been linked with Kelly this summer, but CalcioMercato columnist Daniele Longo claims a transfer to Newcastle is ‘done deal’. Longo tweeted [translated from Italian]: “Kelly at NUFC, done deal!” Contract runs until 2027.

Newcastle is close to finalising the free transfer, but it is not yet ‘done’, according to The Gazette.

The Magpies faced a setback in their pursuit of free agency signing Tosin Adarabioyo. The 26-year-old Fulham defender will be a free agent this summer. Newcastle had made an approach, but Chelsea has subsequently swooped in and will attempt to sign him instead.

Newcastle seek to improve their defensive options this summer following long-term injuries to Sven Botman and Jamaal Lascelles.
