Everton want to sign int’L defender as £4.2m transfer update emerges – report

Everton are interested in acquiring Toulouse defender Gabriel Suazo this summer for £4.2 million, according to Sebastien Vidal.

On May 31, a journalist reported on his personal X account that the Toffees are interested in signing the left-back to their lineup as Sean Dyche seeks to strengthen his team.

The Chile international has a contract until 2026 and appeared in 40 games during the 2023/24 season, scoring two goals and assisting four times.

“Toulouse key player Gabriel Suazo attracts interest from Everton,” the writer claimed.

“The English club may make an offer for the Chilean defender.” The Toronto FC wants to keep him. Contract until 2026, projected value: €5 million (£4.2 million).”

Everton want to strengthen defence this summer

This summer will be extremely busy at Goodison Park, with Kevin Thelwell having already confirmed some departures, but players will also need to be replaced.

The Toffees struggled at left-back in 2023/24, with Vitalii Mykolenko the sole natural option with Ashley Young and Ben Godfrey filling in throughout the season.

Young has been offered a new contract, but he will be 39 before the season begins. Alternative options should be investigated to guarantee the squad is not short at any point during the campaign.

Suazo has played consistently in France for the past two seasons after moving from Colo Colo in his home Chile, and he has 24 senior national team appearances.

He adds versatility by being able to play up and down the entire left flank, and at only £4.2 million, it would be savvy business and ideal competition for Mykolenko to strengthen the squad.
