Newcastle are considering signing Juventus center-back Dean Huijsen after missing out on Tosin Adarabioyo’s free transfer, according to Italian publication Tuttosport.

Fabrizio Romano stated today that Chelsea are currently in pole position to sign the Fulham defender, despite Newcastle’s weeks-long negotiations.

It appears that we will have to explore elsewhere for defensive reinforcements, and Juventus may sell the 19-year-old for a quick profit following his outstanding loan term at Roma.

This is not the first time we’ve been associated with the Dutch-born defender, but it appears that we may face competition from Borussia Dortmund, who are due to face Real Madrid in the Champions League final tonight.

A sum of roughly €30 million is thought to be sufficient to persuade the Turin-based club to sell, though whether Newcastle are willing to commit that much to a defender when they had intended on a free transfer remains to be determined.
