Despite making it to the Champions League the previous year, one of Aston Villa’s main players seems to have made the decision to depart.
Under Unai Emery, Villa had a great season, beating Chelsea and Tottenham to clinch the final Champions League spot.
Villa and Emery intend to recruit elite players to an already outstanding group during the busy summer months ahead.
Even though additions are the primary goal, some players might yet leave.
Regretfully, one of Villa’s key players is rumoured to have made the decision to depart.
Douglas Luiz decides to leave Aston Villa amid Juventus interest
The midfielder for Villa, Luiz, has chosen to depart this summer in order to take on a new challenge, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.
Juventus has stated that, should the Brazilian become available, they would like to sign him.
Throughout the season, Luiz was a key member of Villa’s squad and was previously connected to transfers to Arsenal.
Still, a transfer to Juventus seems appealing, and it seems he’ll try to make it happen.
Villa, meantime, is reportedly searching for heirs, and Monchi is reportedly already in Italy investigating his options.
There is talk about Weston McKennie and Matias Soule.
Douglas Luiz loss a real blow for Unai Emery
If Douglas Luiz did decide to depart, Aston Villa and Unai Emery would be quite disappointed.
It’s a peculiar one, too. It’s strange that Luiz is suddenly trying to push a move, considering his performance and Villa’s Champions League qualification.
Villa will, of course, seek for the best deal and act in their best interests.
Villa allegedly tried to transfer Luiz for at least £70 million in 2023.
It’s unclear if Juventus will cough up that sum. However, Villa ought to adhere to it, and considering their present standing in Europe, they might demand such sums.
