During the height of his career, Gabby Agbonlahor revealed that he was offered a chance to join Tottenham Hotspur, but he chose to stay at Aston Villa.
A decade and a half ago, during the Martin O’Niel period, Villa was last in the top four, and Agbonlahor was a vital member of that team.
The Englishman was regarded as one of the top attackers in the Premier League at the time, scaring opponents with his lightning-fast pace. He created a fearsome strike partnership with John Carew and later Emile Heskey.
But after 2010, Agbonlahor’s form declined, and he ultimately fell short of the early promise he displayed. Prior to Villa’s relegation in 2016, he finished with 85 Premier League goals in 371 games.
Gabby Agbonlahor could have joined Tottenham
The 37-year-old has now disclosed that Harry Redknapp indicated a desire to take him to White Hart Lane, but he acknowledged that he was reluctant to part from his boyhood group.
The pundit told talkSPORT, in response to a question about if he ever had the chance to leave Villa Park: “There was a chance to go to Spurs.” That one was it. Harry Redknapp was participating.
He remarked, “I can’t be around these big-time Charlies after seeing Jamie O’Hara’s white bed linens. It wasn’t in my best interest to go because, for me, I was homesick leaving Birmingham and wouldn’t mind leaving Aston Villa.

Tottenham most likely avoided a major setback because Agbonlahor drastically declined after 2010 and sustained numerous injuries.
In addition, Spurs signed Emanuel Adebayor, Peter Crouch, and Roman Pavlyuchenco during the course of the following several years, and they ended up getting a lot out of them.
