UEFA send two special Aston Villa invitations for Champions League final

Josh Moseley, an Aston Villa fan who suffered a cardiac arrest at a match last month, and his life-saving hero Heidi Elliott have been invited to this evening’s UEFA Champions League final at Wembley Stadium.

During Villa’s Europa Conference League semi-final first leg against Olympiacos, ambulance technician Elliot performed life-saving CPR on Moseley, who collapsed at half-time.

Thanks to her quick thinking, arriving paramedics were able to take over and shock Josh with a defibrillator. He healed in hospital and recently visited Elliot at Villa Park for the season’s last home game against Liverpool.

Moseley’s family established a GoFundMe campaign to raise funds for Elliot’s season ticket, but the club surprised her with one for the next season after inviting her to Bodymoor Heath.

The couple will be UEFA guests at tonight’s final, and their tale will be used as part of the Get Trained, Save Lives campaign, which was launched by European football’s governing body to emphasise the necessity of learning CPR.

The initiative was initiated in 2022, and UEFA has already delivered hands-on training to over 3,500 players, coaches, referees, officials, and staff at finals and tournaments.

It will garner greater exposure during this summer’s European Championships, as UEFA plans to air a TV commercial. Fans and tourists can receive CPR training and practise in booths set up in fan zones during the tournament.
