Liverpool legend of the present era is Virgil van Dijk.
The club captain, a Dutchman, has played a major role in the Reds’ recent success.
It is difficult to imagine Van Dijk playing for anyone else now that he has cemented his place in Liverpool history.
Van Dijk was subjected to a somewhat sly question this week while speaking with Pro Direct Soccer.
In fact, Van Dijk was questioned regarding joining two of Liverpool’s fiercest competitors.
When asked if he would prefer sign with Everton or Manchester United, the Dutchman had an intriguing response.
The defender refused to even answer a question about signing for either Everton or United.
Van Dijk responded, “Haha, I’m not even going to answer that question because it would never happen.”
Only Liverpool will see Van Dijk in action.
As he approaches the last year of his contract, there is some doubt over Van Dijk’s future at Liverpool, but it’s safe to state that Liverpool is the only English team he will play for.
Van Dijk is just too much of an Anfield icon to play for any of the Reds’ rivals, and his loyalty is demonstrated by the fact that he won’t even consider answering this kind of question.
Any Liverpool supporter would tremble at the prospect of Van Dijk playing for Everton or United, but fortunately, It sounds like Van Dijk is going to Goodison Park or Old Trafford before pigs fly.
