Gary Lineker has brilliant new job as Match of the Day host makes announcement

Lineker, a former Leicester City striker and Match of the Day host, has revealed a new career away from the BBC, citing personal reasons for his decision.

Gary Lineker, a Leicester City legend, has proudly revealed his new role as a patron of Cure Leukaemia. Cure Leukaemia was founded in 2003 by Professor Charlie Craddock CBE and patients Graham Silk and Michael Woolley with the goal of providing West Midlands patients with access to cutting-edge blood cancer treatments.

According to Football London, the charity’s impact now extends nationally. Cure Leukaemia is currently playing an important role in providing potentially life-saving therapies throughout the United Kingdom, as well as supporting the national Trials Acceleration Programme.

This network includes 15 hospital sites and serves a catchment area of nearly 20 million patients, providing access to therapies that are not available through normal care. Lineker, a former Tottenham Hotspur, Barcelona, and City player, released a video on social media expressing his personal connection to the cause, citing his son’s fight with leukaemia as an infant.

Lineker addressed the Salesforce World Tour in London via video, saying: “Hi everyone at the Salesforce World Tour in London, sorry I can’t be with you today but thank you for choosing Cure Leukaemia as your partner charity at such an amazing event.” He went on to explain his reasoning for joining the charity: “I’m really happy to become a Patron of Cure leukaemia alongside my former teammate and leukaemia survivor Geoff Thomas, who is here today, and there are two reasons. To begin with, my son was diagnosed with leukaemia when he was a baby, and to be completely honest, he might not be with us now if people had not raised funds for research.”

“That has really encouraged me to want to assist out as well. Second, Cure Leukaemia is a forerunner in the fight against this awful disease by funding the world-renowned Trials Acceleration Programme (TAP). They have great ambitions to support a similar project for youngsters.” “So, does your organisation want to be a trailblazer like Cure Leukaemia and Salesforce? If the answer is yes, you will be helping to save the lives of blood cancer sufferers all around the world today. Have a nice day, and thank you very much.”
