According to Sky Sports’ Keith Downie, Newcastle United have submitted a proposal of around £15 million for James Trafford, although Burnley are ‘expected’ to knock down our opening offer.
On Yankuba Minteh, Downie also reports that Newcastle are likely to’reluctantly cash in’ on the 19-year-old winger if a’sizeable bid’ comes in following increased interest from clubs on the continent, matching Luke Edwards’ article for The Telegraph last night.
Back at Trafford, Craig Hope of The Mail broke the news that we’d made a £16 million bid for the 21-year-old custodian.
According to Sky Sports, our bid is closer to £15 million, and conversations are ongoing, but Burnley is expected to reject that approach, with the Championship side wanting approximately £20 million for the England prospect.
In a Sky Sports Twitter/X update, Downie had the following to say about Trafford and Minteh:
Newcastle have held contact with Burnley regarding custodian James Trafford. Burnley are set to reject #NUFC’s offer of roughly £15 million for the 21-year-old. Eddie Howe wants to recruit a new custodian this summer, and Trafford impressed last season.
Newcastle are expected to reluctantly cash in on teenage wing sensation Yankuba Minteh this summer. The 19-year-old Gambian is gaining interest on the continent after a standout season on loan at Feyenoord last season. A sizable bid could help #NUFC’s PSR position. Minteh has yet to play a first-team game for Newcastle.
