Celtic would accept £25m Kyogo Furuhashi offer – sources

In light of rumors that Kyogo Furuhashi is considering a move to England, Celtic will seek more than £25 million before considering letting him leave the team this summer.

Senior writer Pete O’Rourke stated on the most recent episode of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast that Kyogo’s big move could come this summer, but Celtic have no intention of letting him go. In an effort to ward off interest from below the border, the 29-year-old Japan international signed a new contract last summer, keeping him contracted to Parkhead until 2027.

In order to compete in the Champions League, Brendan Rodgers would want to keep Kyogo in his lineup and would be sad to see him go.

Additionally, according to sources, the forward has no intention of leaving this summer and is excited to participate in the Champions League.

In 2021, Kyogo was acquired by Celtic from Vissel Kobe of Japan for a meager £4.5 million. The forward has since made 133 appearances for the team.

He’s won three SPFL titles, two Scottish Cups, two Scottish League Cups, the Golden Boot in 2022–2023 (when he also won Player of the Year), and fifteen assists in that time. He’s scored 73 goals and contributed 15 assists.

Since coming to Parkhead, he has won over many fans and established himself as a club mainstay under both Brendan Rodgers and Ange Postecoglou.

Last season, Celtic defeated Old Firm rivals Rangers to win both the Scottish Cup and the league title with 19 goals and 5 assists in 50 matches.

Even at 29 years old, Kyogo is content at Parkhead and won’t be departing this summer unless the team gets an offer they can’t turn down.

Koyogo’s role in Rodgers’ squad has made him a key man ahead of the upcoming Champions League campaign, with the manager looking to make amends for the embarrassment last time out.
