Gustaf Lagerbielke, a defender for Celtic, may opt to leave Celtic Park during the summer transfer window.

During the January transfer window, the 24-year-old defender was connected to a move to Lecce, but the deal ultimately fell through. The Sweden international was scheduled to travel to Italy for a medical examination, but Cameron Carter-Vickers sustained an injury just before the deadline, forcing the move to be canceled.

A new report from Sky Sports (live blog on June 11, 18:09 pm) claims that Lecce has attempted to sign Lagerbielke once more during the summer transfer window.

The Serie A team is seeking a loan agreement with a buyout option for Lagerbielke. He spent £3 million to join Celtic from Elfsborg last summer, but he had trouble securing a regular starting spot.

Celtic likely to offload Gustaf Lagerbielke

After an incredibly successful 2023–24 season, the Bhoys should be aiming to bolster their roster this summer. Rodgers needs the right support in the summer transfer window to acquire the players he wants.

Additionally, the Celtics manager needs to be brutal and offload players who don’t fit into his objectives. Lagerbielke was signed by the Hoops for a significant sum, but Rodgers was never impressed. All parties benefit from a relocation away from Celtic Park, hence Celtic should accept Lecce’s offer.

This summer, the Bhoys’ main priorities will be to recruit a new center back, a new goalkeeper, and a new striker. If more players are let to depart, though, Rodgers might be able to make a healthy roster adjustment.

One such player who might be making his way to the exit is Hyeon-gyu, huh. If Celtic gets a very alluring offer, they might also consider selling Matt O’Riley. O’Riley has been linked to Everton, although it’s likely that they lack the money at the moment to sign him.
