Mulgrew Junior was one of the nine Academy prospects that the club revealed yesterday will be moving up.

Charlie abruptly transforms from a former Celtics player to the father of a current hopeful.

Joshua’s next move will be to join the Lowland League team at the u-18 level, after Celtic B placed sixth in the Lowland League the previous season.

The Celtic B team, which will play eight games in the UEFA Youth League this coming season, is presently coached by Stephen McManus.

It is anticipated that Jonny Hayes will join the Celtic coaching team and collaborate with McManus.

As a father, Joshua shouldn’t have any surprises when he begins his professional job.

Charlie experienced everything during his two stints at Celtic. Under Gordon Strachan, he came dangerously close to breaking through before embarking on a four-year tour that included stops at Wolves, Southend, and Aberdeen. He eventually returned to Celtic in the summer of 2010 when Neil Lennon assumed leadership.

When Celtic controlled Scottish football six turbulent years later, Mulgrew went on with five SPL winners medals. In the south, he played for Fleetwood, Blackburn, and Wigan before retiring a year ago after two seasons at Dundee United.

With that background, Joshua shouldn’t face many challenges that his father hasn’t already faced.
