Everton in major Iliman Ndiaye transfer push, Marseille could now sell as price update emerges

According to L’Equipe, Marseille has been rattled by the pressure Everton is putting on them in an effort to recruit Iliman Ndiaye this summer.

On June 21, the French publication stated on their website that the Toffees are facing their best opportunity of success to date as they try for the third consecutive transfer window to capture the former Sheffield United forward.

Since Marseille’s management is seeking liquidity and may decide to sell, Ndiaye’s team is amenable to the notion. However, since they paid €20 million [£16.9 million] to sign him a year ago, they naturally want to recoup their investment.

Prior to Sean Dyche taking over for Frank Lampard [L’Equipe], Everton placed a bid for the 24-year-old in January 2023 and may now finally land their man.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin linked with Everton exit

throughoutDespite doubts about their financial predicament and the evolving takeover scenario, it is evident that the Toffees are not hanging around  the transfer season.

Agreements have been reached to bring Tim Iroegbunam of Aston Villa permanently and Jack Harrison back on loan from Leeds United [Fabrizio Romano, June 21]. Lewis Dobbin is leaving in the opposite direction [Romano, June 21].

Although the last two deals might have been sufficient to allay concerns about both teams’ finances and viability, there seems to be a drive at Goodison Park to bring in a new striker in anticipation of losing Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
With one year remaining on his contract, Sean Dyche’s top scorer is being pursued by a number of teams, including Brentford, West Ham, and Newcastle [Football Transfers, June 21].

Everton currently seems to be moving closer to possible approaches for Armando Broja of Chelsea and Ndiaye, but funding either deal would probably require a big departure [Sky Sports, 11 June].

Amadou Onana, a midfielder, might wind up playing there, but Jarrad Branthwaite seems less likely now that the team resisted Manchester United.

But given that the team currently has Calvert-Lewin, Beto, and a young player at striker, it appears likely that the emphasis on adding another is related to the loss of one of the current players.
