As the summer transfer market opens, Newcastle United is prioritizing additions in four important areas, sources have told Football Insider.
The Magpies are eager to bolster their defense in the off-season by bringing in a center defender and a goalkeeper.
New additions at center forward and on the right wing are also being considered by Eddie Howe and his hiring team.
Although it has stalled, Newcastle may yet try to get Dominic Calvert-Lewin, an Everton striker, later in the summer transfer season.
The Tyneside team is reportedly evaluating possible replacements for the England international, who is still very much at the top of their priority list.
Bowen, Summerville and Calvert-Lewin among top Newcastle targets
After Newcastle lost out on priority target Michael Olise, Jarrod Bowen of West Ham and Crysencio Summerville of Leeds United are the front-runners for the right-wing position.
Olise, who Chelsea was also interested in, is most likely going to sign with German powerhouse Bayern Munich.
In addition, Howe’s team is eager to recruit a right-sided backup for Fabian Schar at center defense, since both Jamaal Lascelles and Sven Botman are sidelined due to chronic knee ailments.
Newcastle placed eighth in the Premier League the previous season, but because Man United won the FA Cup, they will not be playing in Europe.
