Transfer of Tottenham Hotspur star Djed Spence to Genoa is under turmoil
According to the Calcio Genoa source, the 23-year-old is being sought by the Spurs for slightly less than €10 million. The Serie A team, though, seems unlikely to budge from Tottenham’s demands.
A snag has been reported in Djed Spence’s transfer from Tottenham to Serie A team Genoa by the Italian publication Calcio Genoa. The 23-year-old has been on loan at Genoa for the past six months, where he has made 16 appearances and impressed with his reliable play.
Even if Spence’s performance at Genoa has improved, the Italian team is unwilling to match Tottenham’s asking price for him. According to reports, Spurs are asking for less than €10 million for the 23-year-old defender. But Genoa is hesitant to comply with these requests.
When Spence moved from Middlesbrough to Hotspur Way in 2022, a lot was expected of him. Sadly, the relocation has not gone as planned, and it is now appropriate to stop losing money. It’s unclear if more teams will enter the fray if the move to Genoa falls through.
If anything, Djed Spence would be better off taking out another loan spell. Under Ange Postecoglou, he has already been denied any form of playing time, and things are not expected to improve for him the following season either.
Spence needs to leave Tottenham if he want to receive consistent playing time. But a strong preseason showing might help alter public perception of him and perhaps even Postecoglou’s evaluation.
The time is running out for Djed Spence since Tottenham isn’t prepared to drop their asking price. He appears to be in line for another loan term next season unless he can assist the team in reaching a quicker conclusion.
