According to reports, teams like Man Utd and Liverpool have expressed interest in signing the former Celtic star.
This summer, Jeremie Frimpong is still drawing attention as Barcelona considers their options for a move.
Celtic is interested in the star because he played for the team under Neil Lennon from 2019 to 2021. The intriguing aspect of Hoops comes from a sell-on clause that was added to the £11.5 million contract that brought him to Bayer Leverkusen more than three years ago. Frimpong has been a standout player for Xabi Alonso’s team, but his contract reportedly has a €40 million release clause. According to reports, Manchester United and Liverpool are two of the clubs reportedly interested in the right-back. If a deal goes through, Celtic will recover thirty percent of the earnings. Barcelona is rumored to be interested, but for now, their priorities are on making sure that the 2023–24 fiscal year concludes with a surplus, which will allow them to reinstate La Liga’s 1:1 rule, which allows them to sign players without restrictions.
After achieving this goal, they can start pursuing players like Frimpong on July 1. According to SPORT, the Catalans will use this tactic to get the Dutch international. There are rumors that Barca will make an offer of €30 million fixed and an additional €5 million in variable terms.
They think that negotiations will be open with Leverkusen, the current Bundesliga champions, and that Ansu Fati might be included in the deal. If a transfer happens this summer, the Hoops would then receive a financial boost.
