Everton should consider accepting a £50million offer for Amadou Onana as they already have a replacement ready in Tim Iroegbunam, Dan Bardell has said.

Onana, 22, has been continuously linked to leaving Goodison Park in recent months. According to Foot Mercato, the Belgian is drawing interest from PSG following his performances at EURO 2024, as of June 27.
According to a June 25 Sky Sports report, Aston Villa and Arsenal, two Premier League teams, are also interested in the midfield asset that the Toffees value at almost £50 million (The Times, June 14).

Journalist Bardell for Sky Sports and talkSPORT has identified Iroegbunam, who signed from Aston Villa earlier this month (talkSPORT, June 22), as a possible alternative and stated it makes sense to sell Onana for the benefit of all involved.

Bardell stated exclusively to Goodison News, “It is obvious that the signing of Tim Iroegbunam needs to be taken into consideration.”

A big PSR agreement with Aston Villa but he could prove to be a replacement option for him. Onana lost his place towards the end of last season and now he’s playing in the EUROs so he has high value.

I think selling him makes sense, it would allow Sean Dyche to shape his squad and bring in better quality in more positions.

I do think he’s a good player and he has high potential but he’s not someone I’ve ever been raving about. I think Everton fans would rather sell him than Branthwaite for big money this summer so if they can get £50m for him I think Everton should accept that.

Everton star Amadou Onana linked to PSG

It was first believed that Onana could be sold to allay any remaining concerns about Profit and Sustainability, but since PSR accounts are due on Sunday, June 30, it doesn’t appear that will happen.

However, Everton may still choose to accept the money because it might eventually help them with their PSR requirements and provide them some cash to attempt and bring in some transfer reinforcements of their own.

At the European Championship, Onana has been playing well for Belgium, which may also increase interest in him and his cost.

Even if his performance hasn’t always been consistent, since coming to Goodison Park from Lille back in 2022, he has largely been a success story.

However, given the caliber of some of the teams vying for the midfield player’s signature, Everton will now be able to demand a high price.

Dyche may be able to add a lot of new players to his roster as a result of his sale, which might help the Toffees in the long run. In Iroegbunam, he may already have a replacement for the missing player.
