The 10 players leaving Everton today as new Dele update shared

Following the conclusion of the football season, ten players are currently scheduled to formally depart Everton.

The most well-known player scheduled to leave in an official manner is Andre Gomes, whose six-year tenure on Merseyside will come to an end when his contract expires.

Players who were mainstays in Sean Dyche’s matchday lineups as well as academy standouts who will now be looking to further their careers outside of Finch Farm will also be bidding farewell.

Gomes made 100 Premier League matches for Royal Blue. He originally joined on loan from Barcelona and eventually went to Everton to secure a £22 million permanent contract. His efforts at Goodison Park were hindered by injuries, most notably the terrible ankle injury he sustained against Tottenham Hotspur in 2019. However, following a season spent on loan in France, he returned to Everton under Sean Dyche and exceeded expectations at the start of the previous campaign.

Prior to Christmas, Gomes made his debut in a competitive match under the Blues manager, coming on as an early substitute in the team’s loss to Spurs. Everton was behind 2-0 when he joined the contest, but he turned the tide of play by helping to create a goal that was controversially disallowed and then scoring to give his team a chance to win. A few weeks later, he scored the free-kick that allowed Everton to defeat Crystal Palace in a replay and go to the FA Cup’s fourth round.

After his departure was confirmed, the 30-year-old issued a poignant letter to Blues fans, saying, “My time with the blue shirt came to an end.” However, I must express my pride in you for all these years. This group has a rich history filled with memorable events as well as challenging circumstances from which we can all draw lessons. However, there is one thing that unites both scenarios: your ardor for this fantastic football team.

You never gave up on us, even though we went through highs and lows, feelings, and incredible environments. Community is all about never giving up on the individual sitting next to you. The influence you have on assisting people is beyond words. I consider myself extremely fortunate and grateful for all of our shared experiences and memories.

Andy Lonergan, the veteran goalkeeper, is also departing Everton. Although he did not play in a competitive game for the team, he was frequently praised for being an important part of a solid goalkeeping group that allowed Jordan Pickford to develop. The forty-year-old will now work as a player-coach for Wigan Athletic. Mackenzie Hunt, another academy product who frequently appeared on Dyche’s Premier League bench last season, and Lewis Warrington, a well-liked midfielder who finished his journey from the Goodison stands to a Premier League player when he was brought off the bench against Sheffield United in May, will also depart the team they joined as schoolboys.
