According to Tutto Sport, Everton has been informed that the asking price for Juventus midfield player Arthur Melo has increased following their approach.
On July 1st, the Italian publication revealed that his fee had increased as a result of his outstanding play at Fiorentina the previous season.
Newcastle United and Wolves, two Premier League rivals, have also expressed interest in a possible summer transfer.
Would Everton benefit from the signing of Arthur Melo?
Ever since the Daily Mail revealed on May 28 that the Toffees were interested in signing the former Liverpool player, the team has been connected to a move for the player.
But it makes sense that Everton supporters are hesitant to embrace what the 27-year-old can provide given his previous Premier League experience with that team.
His 2022–2023 season was marred by injury, and he made very little of an impression on Merseyside’s red half But the Brazil international’s final campaign with Fiorentina demonstrated the midfielder’s continued skill set. During the previous season, Arthur participated in 48 games for the Italian team, helping them score six goals overall. These stats aren’t particularly impressive, but they become more acceptable when you consider that he played defensive midfield in 37 of those games. Additionally, if the Belgium international decides to leave Everton this summer—a move that is becoming more likely by the day—he may be the perfect Amadou Onana replacement because of his ability to play in the number six role [Sport, 1 July, page 15].
In other Everton news, Alan Myers has disclosed that the team will search for a Ben Godfrey replacement this summer.
