Man Utd finally agree Dan Ashworth deal after lengthy stand-off with Newcastle

Following intense discussions spanning several months, Manchester United and Newcastle have finally come to an understanding that will see Dan Ashworth appointed as the former’s new sporting director.

Manchester United and Newcastle have finally reached an agreement on a compensation plan for Dan Ashworth’s services.

Since Ashworth became a top goal for United part-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe, who has completely restructured the team off the field since gaining a 27.7% ownership in the team he grew up playing for, the two clubs have been in negotiations for several months.

And after a breakthrough in negotiations, the former head of Brighton and the Football Association is now expected to be announced as the team’s new sporting director shortly.

The Athletic was the first to report the arrangement, which puts an end to months of rumors regarding Ashworth’s future. In his capacity as technical director, Jason Wilcox, a former Manchester City member, will answer directly to Ashworth after being forced out of Southampton back in April.
