Newcastle and West Ham join Matt O’Riley race as Celtic plan revealed – sources

According to sources who spoke to Football Insider, Newcastle United and West Ham are two of the Premier League teams vying to recruit Celtic striker Matt O’Riley.

Many have speculated that Southampton, who were just promoted, are getting ready to make a bid for the 23-year-old midfield player. The Denmark international, who was not called up for the European Championship in Germany, is also a target for Brighton and Chelsea.

This summer, Celtic is expected to receive multiple bids for the star midfield player; however, insiders have told Football Insider that they plan to hold out for at least £25 million.

The Fulham academy graduate is reluctance to leave the Hoops, but they are hoping for a Premier League bidding battle and are aware that interest is growing.

As Newcastle and West Ham enter the race, Celtic want to pay £25 million for O’Riley.
It is anticipated that elite English clubs will become more interested in O’Riley as July goes on. In 49 appearances during the 2023–24 season, the Danish star netted 19 goals and provided 18 assists; 43 of those games were as a member of the starting lineup.

The left-footer and Southampton manager Russell Martin previously collaborated in Milton Keynes, and following their promotion last season, the Saints are eager to get back together.

O’Riley’s talent is something that established top-four teams Newcastle, West Ham, Brighton, and Chelsea are eager to add as they aim for top-six finishes in the 2024–25 season.
