Celtic attacker poised for medical ahead of EFL transfer

Attacker Rocco Vata of Celtic is set to get a physical, and Watford is getting close to signing him, according to Sky Sports (live transfer blog, 03.07.24, 17:13).
To strengthen their attacking unit, Watford plans to entice the winger to move over the border to Hertfordshire. Under Tom Cleverley’s direction, they are getting ready for their first full season in the Championship and are looking to add some new players. Vata, 19, had been considering his options since his Celtic contract expired at the conclusion of the previous month. The player is expected to have a successful career in the game and has recently been in high demand.

According to Sky Sports’ most recent assessment, the teenager is “close.” a four-year relocation to Vicarage Road, and on Wednesday, they will go through medical testing. If a trade moves forward, the Hoops would receive £237,000 in compensation. Vata would strengthen Watford’s attacking ranks and be a wise long-term addition.

He has progressed through the academy ranks at Celtic and has been on their books the entirety of his career. At several juvenile levels, the potential was a vital member of the Glasgow giants, and in the Lowland League, he most recently made a name for himself as a fixture for their B team, scoring 23 goals in 34 games.

Vata, a youth international for the Republic of Ireland, has also made six appearances for the starting lineup for the Hoops, contributing one goal.

As they attempt to defeat rivals Rangers in the Scottish Premiership next season, Celtic has been eager to hold onto him. But it seems like he’s leaving already in search of a fresh challenge in England.

Watford schedules
Watford is exercising patience in their hiring while Cleverley tries to make his mark on the team.
