Former Celtics player and EFL team agree to a deal extension
The English League One team Bristol Rovers and former Celtic player Scott Sinclair have reached an agreement on a new one-year deal, the club has announced. After being signed by Brendan Rodgers in 2016, the 35-year-old made over 100 appearances for the Hoops, winning three Scottish Premiership titles, two Scottish Cups, and two Scottish League Cups before moving on to play for Preston North End.
Before signing with Premier League powerhouse Chelsea in 2004, the former hoops star started his career with the Gas. He later made a comeback to Memorial Stadium in the summer of 2022. He said on the club’s official website, “I think everyone knows what this club means to me and the special place it holds in my heart.” after hearing about his new contract. It’s crazy to consider that I made my Rovers debut at the age of 15 this coming December, 20 years ago. It means the world to me to be playing here and to be sporting this shirt and badge.” Scotland’s young star moves for £1 million to play with a former Rangers defender
Lewis Fiorini, a Scotland under-21 international, was acquired by newly promoted English League One team Stockport County for £1 million, marking their tenth summer acquisition. Fiorini was previously with Manchester City. The 22-year-old forward, who has signed a three-year contract with Edgeley Park with an option for an additional year, will team up with former Rangers defender Clint Hill, who serves as assistant manager at the club. The former star of the Citizens program has lately experienced loan stints with NAC Breda and Blackpool. He has made ten appearances for the Scottish under-21 national team. “He’s a player with a really high ceiling and huge potential, who has trained with and learned from the best during his time at Manchester City,” Stockport manager Dave Challinor said of the signing. He is excellent technically and will definitely be a valuable addition to our team. It’s uncommon for a young player to have the experience he does in the Championship, League One, international football, and abroad, and we think he can make a significant contribution in the coming years.
