Newcastle United have made a significant change to St James’ Park ahead of the 2024-25 Premier League season.
Pictures of the Magpies erasing the “Newcastle United” inscription from the East Stand surfaced this week. The typeface was implemented in 2011 and is identical to Sports Direct by Mike Ashley. It is the sole enduring physical memory of Ashley’s miserable 14-year ownership.
But supporters are happy to report that this has now changed. Following the typeface’s restoration, Newcastle sent an update on social media.
On United’s official social media accounts, a picture was uploaded along with the statement, “An iconic symbol of our past.” a segment of our future.
Newcastle and Castore worked out an early release from their multi-year kit agreement, which was Ashley’s final authorized business transaction before taking over. Adidas, which is estimated to be worth £30 million every season as opposed to the £6.5 million Castore was paying, made an official comeback at the beginning of last month.
Adidas logos have taken the place of the Castore emblems at the Gallowgate Stand throughout the last month.

Following the conclusion of the PIF-led acquisition in October 2021, the club renamed Nine Bar Shearer’s Bar and relocated the Alan Shearer monument to the grounds of St. James’ Park.
While several hospitality spaces have been added to the stadium, the concourse sections have also undergone renovations. The main expectation is that Newcastle will be able to add more seats to its 52,000 capacity.
Since last year, eminent architects worldwide have been undertaking a feasibility study, with conclusions expected to be released shortly.
