Florentino Luis, a midfielder for Benfica, is reportedly being enticed to join Everton this summer, per O Jogo.
Although negotiations have not yet begun, the newspaper stated in print on July 6th, page 18, that Luis might wind up at Goodison Park.
The defensive midfielder is rumored to be interested in teams like Fulham and Leicester, so Sean Dyche would probably have competition for his services.
For what reason, Florentino Luis would be a fantastic addition to Everton.
While Luis is a perfect addition to the Merseyside club’s roster, the Toffees also boast defensive midfielders in James Garner and Amadou Onana.
Particularly if Onana leaves this summer, as he has been associated with doing for the entire summer.
The competition to partner with the Belgium international will surely intensify if he stays, but his presence would undoubtedly improve their squad’s depth. Everton has a rather solid starting lineup overall, but their depth is somewhat limited when players are sidelined by injury or suspension. Another youthful player that would constitute the Toffees’ midfield is Luis.
However, this simply indicates that he will have lots of space to grow and possibly even blossom like Onana.
He is presently employed by Benfica, where he has participated in 45 games in all competitions and is one of the team’s top players.
It seems like he would be a good addition, especially since Benfica only wants £34 million for a trade to happen [Correio de Manha, May 31, Page 11].
In other Everton news, should Dominic Calvert-Lewin go this summer, the Toffees might have identified their replacement.
