Football Insider has received information from sources indicating that Newcastle United has expressed interest in signing Raphinha of Barcelona.
The former Leeds United player has been shortlisted as a target by the Magpies, who are looking for a “lethal” right-sided forward this summer.
Sources claim that at this point, there isn’t a tight agreement between the two clubs.
Raphinha is not actively pressing to leave the La Liga team; instead, he is representing Brazil at the Copa America.
In an attempt to raise money after Lamine Yamal’s phenomenal rise the previous season, reports say Barcelona is looking at the Raphinha market this summer.
As they continue to look to strengthen their attacking options, it may provide Newcastle the opportunity to make a move for the 27-year-old.
Newcastle would be getting a seasoned winger in Rapinha, who joined Barcelona in 2022 and has played a lot for the Spanish team ever since.
The winger made 37 appearances in all competitions last season, contributing 13 assists and 10 goals. However, in order to make room for the exceptional 16-year-old Yamal, he was moved to the left flank in the second part of the campaign.
However, because of his 67 appearances with Leeds United, there is less danger in recruiting him.
Raphina made 65 appearances in the Premier League, scoring 17 goals and dishing out 12 assists, demonstrating his ability to have an impact on matches in the top division of England.
