Newcastle United are aiming to trim their squad ahead of pre-season.
St. James’ Park has seen a lot of development just this summer. Elliot Anderson and Yankuba Minteh have both been traded, while Paul Mitchell has joined Newcastle United as their sporting director.
After nearly three years as co-owners, Amanda Staveley and Mehrdad Ghodoussi are expected to quit Newcastle, which is an even greater departure.
With all these changes, Newcastle United is starting to lose its identity, and more are anticipated. The Magpies still have a lot of players to offload before the next campaign begins since it’s clear they won’t be playing at St. James’ Park.
Newcastle have three senior players who need to find new clubs
As he approaches the last year of his Toon deal, Ryan Fraser fits that description. After Fraser’s loan term, Southampton wants to sign him permanently, although the agreement hasn’t been finalized yet.
Another player Newcastle wants to let go following a loan period is Jamal Lewis. Watford declined to sign the left-back on a permanent basis, therefore Lewis could now need to train with the Newcastle Under-21s when preseason gets underway.
Likewise, this holds true for Isaac Hayden.
There is interest in Isaac Hayden
Hayden, who paid £1.5 million to go from Arsenal to Newcastle in 2016, is searching for a new team.
Although his current Toon contract is set to expire in two years, it is obvious that he has no place on Tyneside. Since Eddie Howe joined the team, the 29-year-old has had three loan stints and hasn’t seen on the field since December 2021.
Hayden has to move out of St. James’ Park and into a permanent residence where he can truly settle in. And following his loan stint at Loftus Road, QPR would like to provide him that chance, but there’s a catch.
The Northern Echo reports that this summer, QPR is interested in permanently signing Isaac Hayden from Newcastle United. They can’t, however, compensate him for his existing salary.
Newcastle may need to pay off Hayden
Hayden and Newcastle are in a difficult situation because of his contract, which runs until 2026. Additionally, Hayden’s job is stagnating, so they need to find a solution.
He wants a club he can call home, but with his present pay position, that will not be easy.
A possible resolution may be for Newcastle to incur financial losses and terminate Hayden’s contract early, so enabling him to secure employment elsewhere.
I really hope it turns out to be the case for Hayden’s sake. He was a fantastic player for Newcastle at a trying time for the team, and it would be wonderful to see him leave the Magpies and begin a new chapter in his life.
