After becoming a free agent, one former Paul Mitchell signee is now training with Everton.
Dele Alli was cut by the Toffees earlier this summer, and he is now working with Everton. In an attempt to help the Toffees, then led by Frank Lampard, avoid the impending prospect of relegation, Dele joined Everton in January 2022. He would help them survive in a minor way, but he would find it difficult to have a significant influence at the team before being sent on loan to Besiktas for the 2022–2023 campaign. He had to have hip surgery, so the move was cut short, and he hasn’t been spotted moving since. Even though Everton did not extend his contract, and his Merseyside deal expired this summer, The club is doing everything they can to support Dele in his quest to achieve a full recovery from his injury, and he has returned to training in order to increase his fitness in preparation for a summer transfer elsewhere. “Dele’s contract is coming to an end, but our medical team will continue to support him while he completes the intense rehabilitation programme he is currently undergoing following the operation he had earlier this year,” Toffees Director of Football Kevin Thelwell said about the 28-year-old prior to his release from Everton. Sean [Dyche] and I concur that it’s necessary to make sure Dele’s contract situation doesn’t interfere with his rehabilitation at this crucial juncture in his recuperation.

Dele was strongly linked to a move to Newcastle United in their first transfer window under new ownership before to joining Everton. When the midfielder first appeared at MK Dons, the Magpies were also heavily connected to a deal for him; but, Tottenham Hotspur beat them to the signing.

Paul Mitchell was most likely the driving force behind that action. Prior to Dele’s relocation to north London, Mitchell was employed by MK Dons. He then worked for Spurs under Mauricio Pochettino, whom he had followed from Southampton, as head of youth scouting. Dan Ashworth was replaced by Mitchell, who was named Newcastle United’s sporting director last week.
