According to Arne Slot, Liverpool may yet pull off a dream move this summer by bringing Anthony Gordon from Newcastle to the club, but they’ll need to be patient and willing to take a risk on a player who is allegedly also on Manchester City’s radar.

In fact, Gordon hasn’t exactly made the most news during his time abroad in Germany—at least not for his achievements with England—for the past two reasons. First off, when the squad started a team-building activity, he cut himself rather seriously after falling off his bike head-first while trying to use his phone at the same time.
Furthermore, in late June, as Newcastle desperately attempted to comply with the Profit and Sustainability Rules of the Premier League before to the June 30 deadline and avoid a possible deduction of points, his name was closely associated with a transfer to Liverpool.
In the event, Newcastle complied by authorizing the £30 million sale of Yankuba Minteh to Brighton and the £35 million purchase of Elliot Anderson by Nottingham Forest, thus those initial discussions on the potential sale of Gordon were unnecessary.

Gordon is reportedly someone that Reds manager Slot is eager to bring in, provided that the two teams can come to an understanding.

And in an interview with the Inside Track podcast, former Everton CEO Keith Wyness stated that Gordon may still be up for sale this summer.
But as Wyness discloses, Newcastle may raise Gordon’s asking price by using rumors of Manchester City’s interest in the 23-year-old.
“All the rumors and stories were that Anthony Gordon was going to return to Liverpool,” Wyness said.
Since he grew up loving Liverpool, that made sense.

Wyness reckons his price might still go up the later in the window it gets, and he thinks Liverpool would need to exercise a little patience if they want to close a deal this summer.
“If I were to estimate his value, I’d say it’s about £75 million. His final output wasn’t at Everton and hasn’t been up to par at Newcastle.
“But I’m not convinced Man City will come in. “I think it could be Newcastle trying to get an auction going and keep Liverpool’s hand up while pushing the price up.” Gordon joined Newcastle in a £45m move from Everton in January 2023 and notched 12 goals and 11 assists, as well as winning six penalties, in 48 appearances in the 2023/24 season, form that earned him the Magpies’ player of the year gong.
