After already acquiring Tim Iroegbunam and Iliman Ndiaye, Everton is now on the verge of adding another player.

The Toffees want to get better everywhere on the field, and director of football at Goodison Park Kevin Thelwell is targeting Montpellier No. 27 Becir Omeragic to strengthen the defense after adding Ndiaye to the front line.

Everton is currently on the verge of bolstering their midfield division as well.

Everton is almost ready to sign Jesper Lindstrom
According to a report from Corriere dello Sport (live blog scheduled for Thursday, July 18, at 10:45 am), Everton is reportedly close to signing Jesper Lindstrom, the No. 29 player for Napoli.

According to the Italian news source, the Denmark international is just a step away from signing a loan agreement with the Toffees for the 2024–2025 season. Everton is also in talks to extend the agreement permanently for €25 million (£21 million) next summer.

With Napoli, Lindstrom had a difficult 2023–2024 season. He made just two Serie A starts as the Italian powerhouses finished tenth, an embarrassing defense of their championship.

However, the Dane is still regarded as a very good player and shouldn’t be assessed based solely on a dismal campaign in which other prominent Napoli players also suffered. After winning the Serie A championship, Lindstrom was so successful at Eintracht Frankfurt that Napoli made the decision to spend £25 million to sign him and bring him to Naples in August 2023.

Therefore, the 24-year-old has not suddenly turned into a horrible player despite failing to score and recording only one assist in 32 appearances during the previous campaign.

The Denmark international Lindstrom has already done something that Everton supporters will appreciate: he turned down a transfer to Liverpool.

In an interview with Tipsbladet, the Taastrup guy really acknowledged this and disclosed that he is a Liverpool fan.

“There was Liverpool, but would I get playing time?” Lindstrom remarked. Is visiting Liverpool a wise move? It would also be a crazy fantastic experience for me because I support Liverpool, but if I’m not playing, I might as well sit and watch them on TV for another team. Although his enthusiasm for Liverpool won’t earn him any favors at Goodison Park, the fact that he turned down the Reds in favor of playing time should intrigue Everton supporters, as it demonstrates that he has his priorities straight and just wants to play football.
