Even though it might be hard to believe now, both players had some doubts when they first came. The famed division among Toon supporters about Gordon may have resulted from his on-field antics at St. James’ Park a few months prior.
However, the statistics refuted his £40 million price tag. Out of 78 games, just 15 goal contributions made opponent supporters laugh; of days, nobody is making fun of them.
Similarly, Isak was touted as one of Europe’s most exciting strikers, yet his record was hardly one of brutality. Some questioned if the Swede could unseat Callum Wilson with just six La Liga goals. After 68 games and an amazing 35 goals, is anyone still of that opinion?
Add Lewis Hall, a complete beginner who only participated in 12 senior-level games. He had a rough beginning, but as a young left-back, he appears to be the greatest in the nation.
For those three players, Newcastle paid £135 million for potential, and they have subsequently received the benefits. William Osula, the forward arriving from Sheffield United, is also doubtful, almost like clockwork.
52 games and eight career goals does not scream Alan Shearer reincarnated. However, background is necessary, as the Blades finished last season near the bottom of the standings.

Stats are not Eddie Howe’s thing. The training field is still crucial, as is how he may assist a player in achieving his ultimate objective.
