After Newcastle’s 1-0 victory against Brescia, Eddie Howe wrote a message to the club’s supporters and issued a warning to the team’s Premier League opponents.
Premier League rivals have been forewarned by Eddie Howe that Newcastle will be a formidable opponent this year. Before the market closes, the Magpies’ manager has also provided an update on his transfer intentions.
Harvey Barnes’ goal gave Newcastle a 1-0 preseason victory over Brest, who will play in the Champions League.
Although the North East club is currently finalizing a deal for Marc Guehi, Howe maintains that his team is already stronger and in better form despite in the absence of this high-profile addition.
The team is potential with Joelinton, Joe Willock, Barnes, Nick Pope back to full strength, Sandro Tonali returning from suspension, and new additions Lloyd Kelly and Lewis Hall making an impression.
And before the window closes, Toon manager Howe, whose team defeated Girona 4-0 on Friday night, may even raid Chelsea for Noni Madueke.
“I think the biggest difference between now and the middle of the season is that we have players back, and if we can keep them back, we will be stronger,” he stated.
“Obviously, Callum Wilson, Sven Botman, and Jamal Lascelles—huge players—are still absent. That would strengthen us once more, but with players like Sandro—who we expect to see return—and Willock today.
“They can make a difference and are huge, huge contributors for us. I could go through the entire list of guys who were absent from last year’s team, but Harvey Barnes was definitely absent, and they will have a significant impact.
Despite reports that Palace is seeking a substantial £60 million, Howe is still determined to add England center-back Guehi to his roster.
However, Howe could have to change his plan in regards to a right winger due to budgetary limitations.
The Chelsea star Noni Madueke is still in his plans, but if the Englishman continues at Stamford Bridge, a move could have to wait until later transfer windows.
“We’re hoping to be active and to add at least one player to the group,” Howe said. Let’s observe and wait.
“For us, it needs to be more about quality than quantity since we already have such a strong squad that any new players must be able to elevate the club to new heights.
That’s what we’re searching for, and it’s not easy to locate. There aren’t many players who can improve us.
You must maintain composure. Other emotions are useless, in my opinion. Considering the circumstances we operate in, we shall make an effort to make the best choices possible.”
This year, the window has moved a little more slowly. It appears to be getting better right now.”
