Newcastle United are all set to table a third bid for the services of Crystal Palace defensive mainstay Marc Guehi.
Before the current transfer window ends, Newcastle United wants to strengthen their defense. They just put in their second bid for Marc Guehi, the sensation from Crystal Palace. However, because their bid above the type of asking price of much than £15 million, it was turned down.
The Daily Mail reports that Eddie Howe’s side is prepared to return with a better offer for Guehi’s services, indicating that the Magpies are not giving up on their chase just yet. They are prepared to submit a third offer for the English international, who is 24 years old.
While things didn’t work out for him at Chelsea, the move to the Eagles in the summer of 2021 gave him a chance to establish himself in the Premier League. He has gone from strength to strength with every passing season.
Newcastle want to sign Marc Guehi
He was selected by Gareth Southgate for Euro 2024 as a result of his reliable performances, and he proved to be among England’s top performers during the competition. Newcastle is keeping an eye on him because of his performances as they approach the last few weeks of the transfer window in search of defensive reinforcement.
In order to make sure he has adequate talent at the back, Howe wants to bring in a new center-back as Jamaal Lascelles and Sven Botman are both out due to injuries. The fight for a spot in the starting XI will be fiercer with the 24-year-old on their team, which may make him a fantastic acquisition.
Newcastle to return with a third offer
The Mapges have established themselves as the team to beat in the summer transfer window, and after their first attempt to sign him was rejected, they made another attempt, this time offering slightly less than £50 million. However, even that attempt was unsuccessful, as the Eagles demand £65 million for their defensive anchor. Paul Mitchell, the sporting director for Newcastle, is leading the team’s negotiations and is expected to present a revised offer in the next few days in the hopes of landing their top summer target. It will be interesting to see how close their third attempt to meeting the asking price turns out to be crucial in their chances of signing him.
