Newcastle United have failed to reach an agreement for Miguel Almiron with MLS side Charlotte FC.
The Paraguay international is reportedly open to go as the Magpies want to add a new right-winger.
Pedro Neto was linked to a transfer to St. James’ Park before to joining Chelsea. The most recent player to surface as Eddie Howe’s transfer target is Noni Madueke, a Chelsea player as well.
Miguel Almiron to Charlotte FC falls through
But a lot will rely on Almiron’s future, no matter who the Geordies try to sign.
With just two years remaining on his deal, the 30-year-old may decide to go this summer. Ben Jacobs claims that although Charlotte FC looked to be the team most likely to recruit the South American, they have fallen short of Newcastle’s £15.5 million (€20 million) value, therefore any chance of a deal falling through has virtually vanished.
Though Alimiron is expected to be included in Howe’s matchday squad to play Southampton on Saturday, the winger will be questioning how much of a role he has to play in his side’s future as they move into the new 2024–25 season.
In 209 appearances in all competitions, Almiron—who also has 58 caps for his nation—has contributed 12 assists and 30 goals in his five years with Newcastle.
