For the upcoming season, Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s future at Everton may not be sealed, as writer Graeme Bailey indicates that a transfer from the Toffees to Newcastle United isn’t completely out of the question.
Since his contract expires in the summer, Calvert-Lewin has been the primary striker for Everton for the last five years. However, there have been rumors of a move before the transfer deadline, with Crystal Palace and other teams expressing interest in signing him.
The former England striker scored seven goals in his return to form last season, but Bailey says that interest in the player has not diminished, therefore a possible trade might happen in the last two weeks of the transfer window.

Bailey also mentioned that the Magpies really like the striker and that a transfer may be imminent. He declared:
“I continue to believe Newcastle has a chance in this.
“There are still two weeks remaining. Newcastle are big fans of him. He hasn’t signed the deal yet. Nothing significant has happened in the previous two weeks, but I wouldn’t rule anything out either. A few clubs may still be interested in that, in my opinion.
According to what I’m hearing, there have been a few scents surrounding him, but there isn’t much Everton can do right now. They want him to stay, and he just has a year left. I’ve heard that they have a lot of optimism.”
Newcastle may Have to Sell Callum Wilson First
The backup striker is one of the best alternatives in the top-flight
With good cause, Callum Wilson is Newcastle’s backup striker. Wilson has been with the team for four seasons, and despite his 47 goals in 95 Premier League games, which is ever so little less than a striker who scores one goal every two games, he is a reliable backup for the top level.
Nevertheless, he has struggled with injuries in recent years, and after making only 20 Premier League appearances the previous season, Newcastle could need a star to replace Alexander Isak in the attack.
