Newcastle United are aiming to complete a deal to sign Marc Guehi, and there is now even more reason to press ahead with negotiations.

Newcastle United has had three bids for Marc Guehi, 24, turned down, but the Magpies are still very much in the running.

On the other hand, Toon authorities may strike it fortunate four times. It’s thought that a breakthrough may be imminent after Newcastle made a fourth bid for Guehi.

This bid comes close to the £65 million that Crystal Palace is hoping to earn for Guehi. It may be the one that takes the international player from England to Tyneside.

Both fans and Toon great Alan Shearer will be delighted by that. Shearer believes Newcastle can finish fourth if they sign Guehi, based on his predictions for the Magpies’ performance this season.

Newcastle’s Marc Guehi alternative could soon be unavailable

Although Guehi would be a bold addition to Newcastle, the team has been considering other options in case a deal with Crystal Palace cannot be reached.

Malick Thiaw is one of them; before the interest in Guehi surfaced, there were strong rumors that he was joining Eddie Howe’s team.

Though he might not be around for very long, the 22-year-old has been considered the most likely fallback option in the event that the Guehi trade falls through.

HITC Football insider Graeme Bailey, who talked with Geordie Boot Boys, claims that Thiaw may soon be off the market as a result of Newcastle’s interest.

“What’s intriguing about Malick Thiaw is that AC Milan and Juventus are almost done finalizing Pierre Kalulu’s transfer,” he remarked.

My impression is that Thiaw might not be accessible if that occurs.

“Newcastle continues to show interest. They clearly still think well of Thiaw. But the for sale sign at AC Milan might not be there if Guehi decides not to sign with Newcastle and they return to Thiaw.

“Kalulu’s move to Juventus is almost complete. Therefore, if Thiaw was still accessible, I would be shocked.

Joachim Andersen unlikely to be a factor for Newcastle

Newcastle’s search of a center back has also been influenced by the circumstances surrounding Joachim Andersen.

Fulham has been after him, and both of Crystal Palace’s best center backs have been mentioned as potential departures.

According to Steve Parish’s recent comments, Palace would not sell both Guehi and Andersen. This implies that Newcastle must move quickly to acquire Guehi before Fulham can agree on a price for Andersen.

Bailey, though, doesn’t think Andersen will play for Fulham again at Craven Cottage.

He stated, “I don’t think it’s likely that he leaves Crystal Palace, but Fulham has bid for him.”

He’s more likely to receive a new deal, in my opinion.

Newcastle will benefit from that, but only if they are able to finalize a deal for Guehi. If not, they could lose access to their backup plan in Thiaw.

On the other hand, there is now more hope than ever that Marc Guehi will sign with Newcastle United before the summer transfer window ends on August 30.
