Amanda Staveley and Mehrdad Ghodoussi have sent their best wishes to Newcastle United ahead of the new Premier League season .
The Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia and RB Sports & Media acquired Staveley and Ghodoussi’s 5.7% stake in the Magpies, which means that PIF now owns 85% of the football club and RB Sports & Media holds 15%. As a result, Staveley and Ghodoussi resigned from their operational roles, but their hearts are still in Newcastle, as they both gave messages of support to Eddie Howe and his players ahead of today’s opening match against Southampton at St James’ Park (kick-off 3pm).
Staveley posted on Instagram, “Missing everyone terribly, but I will enjoy supporting the team as a fan and can’t wait to see the club as a whole flourish.” “Everyone makes me so proud, and I know the boys will win this season.” I’m wishing Eddie and the boys well for today and the next season.
Ghodoussi, meanwhile, made the following post on X: “Best of luck to Eddie and the team for today.”
“It’s difficult because they have been incredible for the football club along with everyone else,” Howe remarked as the two left. Since I’ve been here, everyone has really worked together. I developed a close bond with them. They were really talkative, involved, and encouraging. Not just for myself, but also for the players and staff, who were all extremely visible and supportive on game day.
That represents yet another shift for the soccer team. They have given me and the players so much, and they have helped us with so many different transactions. I wish them luck in the future.”
