According to sources who spoke to Football Insider, Newcastle United has been informed that they would need to spend more than £70 million to buy Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi.
On August 16, Football Insider reported that Newcastle had made a fourth, £65 million plus add-on bid for the 24-year-old.
Since then, Palace has turned down the offer and is refusing to accept anything less than their £70 million demand.
It’s said that the London team is estimating Guehi’s price tag by looking at Chelsea’s £75 million acquisition of Wesley Fofana from Leicester.
Newcastle yet to meet Crystal Palace’s valuation for Marc Guehi
After suffering the severe heartbreak of losing to Spain in the Euro 2024 final earlier in the summer, Guehi is expected to begin the upcoming Premier League season at Palace.
After joining Palace for £18.5 million in 2021 after making 111 appearances and five goals for the team, the center-back has been essential.
Newcastle has been searching for a new center back throughout the transfer season since Sven Botman has not yet recovered from his horrific ACL injury sustained in March.
As they fail to come to a deal with Crystal Palace, Newcastle United is looking to buy defenders in addition to Marc Guehi, according to a report published by Football Insider on August 13.
