Prior to the next season, Unai Emery has been speaking.

Aston Villa’s Premier League campaign begins on Saturday at 5.30 p.m. away to West Ham.

With a fourth-place result under their belt and Champions League action on the horizon, Villa supporters have enough to cheer about.

Even though they sold a lot of players, they also signed a large number of new players, spending well over £150 million on them.

Unai Emery, nevertheless, asserts that his reality differs from what many Villa supporters perceive.

Unai Emery, cited by The Athletic, on the next Premier League season:

“We don’t think we can finish in the top four or top five.

Seven teams are superior to us.

“(Man) United, Liverpool, Newcastle, Chelsea, Arsenal, Tottenham, and City.”

It will be interesting to watch how everything works out, particularly for Newcastle United and Aston Villa.

Unai Emery is undoubtedly making every effort to relieve himself and his squad of the pressure to perform well this season. Particularly considering how many people are drawing parallels between the difficulties of participating in the three domestic leagues and the events that occurred with Newcastle United the previous season. But in my view, Newcastle’s inability to advance to the CL knockout rounds and/or place in the top four of the Premier League was mostly due to the absurd amount of injuries (along with Tonali’s suspension).

Naturally, Unai Emery will also be thinking back to Villa’s 8-2 aggregate defeat at the hands of Newcastle United in the previous campaign. On the first day, Eddie Howe’s team dominated 5-1 at St. James’ Park with a solid lineup and a robust bench. Later, the same group went to Villa Park lacking key players and still won handily 3-1.
