Newcastle United have failed four times to land Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi

Oliver Glasner, the manager of Crystal Palace, has urged the Premier League to close the transfer window early in light of Newcastle United’s interest in Marc Guehi.

The clubs decided to end the summer window after the 2018–19 and 2019–20 seasons began. Many have argued for the idea to stop disturbing players early in the season, including former Toon manager Alan Pardew.

Premier League teams quickly went back to the previous setup, though, after realizing that the change gave their European counterparts an edge. Premier League teams now adhere to the customary procedure, which gives them until August 31 to finalize their transfer negotiations.

Luckily for Newcastle, they require the additional 13 days to do their business. Due to a tight FFP/PSR scenario, the Magpies have remained silent in the market.

For Palace defender Guehi, who captained the team against Brentford today, the Toon leaders submitted four bids. Eagles boss Glasner encouraged the Premier League to reevaluate the transfer deadline prior to the game.

“It was simple (to choose Guehi) because Marc is such a skilled player,” he stated in a Sky Sports pregame interview. We have daily conversations. There are a lot of rumors going around, but not only about our players; there are a lot of rumors about football all over the world.

“It is what it is, but I would rather that the transfer window end with the first game played. Marc appears to be unaffected by the rumors because of his excellent training. As the team’s captain, I have no doubt that he will perform admirably.
