Newcastle United academy star Elliot Anderson, now of Nottingham Forest, has taken to social media to pay tribute after one of his teammates suffered an opening day injury.
This summer, Anderson served as something of a lamb sacrifice for Newcastle and Eddie Howe when he was traded to Forest in a transaction that allowed the Magpies to meet Premier League Profit and Sustainability Rules barely in time for the late Dune deadline.
Even though the choice seemed unavoidable, Anderson, a Geordie who was very much regarded as “one of their own,” made it extremely unpopular with Newcastle supporters.
The Whitley Bay-born Scotland youth international has settled in well at his new team and made his Premier League debut for Forest in the 1-1 home draw against Bournemouth.
Danilo, a Brazilian midfielder for Forest, sustained what has been called a “horror” injury early in the game, however, which partially spoiled the game.
Danilo challenged former Sunderland winger Antoine Semenyo for the ball in midair, which resulted in the incident. The athlete subsequently made an unsteady landing on his left leg. He was treated, and the game was stopped for around ten minutes.
After entering the field to cover the player, security personnel carried him off on a stretcher.
And Anderson, who entered the game late, wished his friend luck on Instagram.
