In the final week and a half of the transfer window, Newcastle United is prepared to let go of five senior players, sources have informed Football Insider.
MLS prospect Miguel Almiron and team captain Kieran Trippier are two of the initial players that may be off the roster before the deadline of August 31st.
Another defender for whom the Magpies are considering offers is Jamal Lewis, who was judged surplus to requirements.
Eddie Howe may also let go of at least one of Martin Dubravka or Odysseas Vlachodimos, as the team does not require two backup goalkeepers.
Before the transfer window shuts, the Magpies hope to reduce their roster by offloading players who don’t fit into Howe’s plans.
The team will benefit from any prospective sales in PSR and FFP, which will help when trying to sign players.
Newcastle United are streamlining the squad with these sales
As they want to cut the roster and make money on players who aren’t first choices, the north east giants plan to be aggressive in the last stages of the transfer window.
As Newcastle pursues Marc Guehi, the money from those players may also be used to bolster the team.
The 27-year-old striker has turned down a new contract offer from the Merseyside club, therefore Everton is expecting bids for him.
