Ivan Toney may provide Newcastle with a welcome windfall if he signs with Al-Ahli, a Saudi Pro League team, according to The Times.
PIF owns a portion of Al-Ahli, who could be able to help us if a big-money deal materializes since Newcastle will receive 30% of the Brentford sell-on charge that Peterborough receives.
According to The Times, Brentford is prepared to part with the former Toon striker and is holding out for £50 million. If Peterborough had a 20% sell-on clause, they would receive £10 million based on that amount, and Newcastle would be entitled to 30% of that, which would leave us with £3 million.
Darragh MacAnthony, chairman of Peterborough United, discussed Toney and their current deal with Newcastle on the Hard Truth podcast. He stated: “We invited Newcastle to share in Ivan’s future success with a sell-on fee.”
“We compromised on 30% after they agreed and demanded 50% of any future transfer profit, which was never going to happen because we were also paying for Ivan.
e have already got £10 million from Brentford. I am not permitted to disclose the exact amount. We will earn X% of any future profits, and Newcastle will receive 30% of what we receive from us. Every time Ivan moves, Newcastle and we both make money. I have no problem with the way these deals are set up. It’s the best thing, and it works like a chain reaction.
