Newcastle United’s deadline to agree a deal with Crystal Palace for Marc Guehi is drawing closer. While the transfer window is open until August 30th, Newcastle United are aiming to strike an agreement very soon.

According to reports, Newcastle wants to finalize a deal for Guehi by this weekend and plans to back out of the agreement before the second round of Premier League games.

That puts it in a battle against time, which clarifies the Magpies’ consideration of other options. In an attempt to get a center defender in case the Guehi deal falls through, Newcastle has been linked to both Edmond Tapsoba and Axel Disasi.

However, Paul Mitchell is still primarily focused on the 24-year-old, and Sky Sports reporter Keith Downie has given a very encouraging update on Newcastle’s efforts to get Guehi.

Positive update on Newcastle United’s pursuit of Marc Guehi

On Wednesday night, Downie made an appearance on the Fully Loaded Transfer Show on YouTube. During his appearance, he learned that Newcastle was considering Guehi.

He stated, “I was just informed that there have been additional talks today.”

“Since there was nothing throughout the weekend, nothing had occurred since Friday.

“More discussions have taken place today, and as I’ve mentioned numerous times, the two clubs are attempting to figure out how to resolve this.”

According to what I’ve just been informed, what I read, and our chat last night, Downie said, “I would be surprised if it doesn’t get done.”

Positive outcome for Newcastle would come as a surprise

Based on the details he’s been given, Downie believes Guehi will join for Newcastle United this summer.

There seems to be hope that a way to get the England international to St James’ Park can be discovered after further negotiations.

The Telegraph has also revealed that there is optimism for an agreement and that a deal to bring Guehi to Newcastle has become closer.

Given that Guehi desires to sign with Newcastle, this is fantastic news. From a financial standpoint, selling Crystal Palace makes perfect sense. Given that he would be approaching the last year of his contract at Selhurst Park, there is no chance they could obtain anything close to £60 million for him the following year.

Even though there were concerns the transaction would fall through when it became known that Guehi’s colleague Joachim Andersen was leaving the Eagles to return to Fulham, this summer is the best moment for Palace to sell the player.

Guehi, on the other hand, is unaffected by the Andersen trade, and Crystal Palace may now lose their two best center backs.

Although it is unfortunate for them, Newcastle is thrilled by the development since they are now much more in need of a center defender after Fabian Schar’s dismissal against Southampton on Saturday.

Although Mike Dean acknowledged that Schar’s red card was lenient, he will still face a three-match suspension.
