This summer, Newcastle United has been searching for a new center defender.

Although Fabian Schar, Dan Burn, and Jamaal Lascelles are already on the Magpies, none of these defenders is under thirty.

Before the transfer deadline, they have been trying to sign England international Marc Guehi, and the most recent sources indicate that an agreement is almost reached.

The Daily Mail claims that advanced negotiations of a £70 million deal between Newcastle and Crystal Palace are underway, and that a decision about Guehi’s future is anticipated within the next 48 hours.

Everything will rely on the player’s desire to stay at the London team or go if the two teams reach an agreement.

Guehi is now Eddie Howe’s team’s first priority for the summer.

They are still attempting to close a deal for the 24-year-old despite Palace having rejected their first four bids.

The England national team’s gifted defense played a crucial role at the 2024 European Championship. He led the Three Lions to victory over Spain in the championship match by starting six of their games.

He averaged 1.1 tackles and 3.5 clearances per game while playing 25 Premier League games for Crystal Palace the previous year.

Guehi would be a great addition to Newcastle, who would be looking to rebound in 2024–25 following a poor Premier League seventh-place showing the previous season.

Thus far this summer, they have signed goalkeepers John Ruddy and Odysseas Vlachodimos, Lewis Hall, Lloyd Kelly, and William Osula.
