The life and legacy of Kevin Campbell will be celebrated at a Memorial Service, organised by Everton Football Club, at St Luke’s Church on Goodison Road next week. The service, attended by members of Kevin’s family, will be held on Wednesday, September 18 beginning at 2pm. It is appropriate that the service will be held in the church which sits alongside Goodison Park, the ground Kevin graced so many times in his 164 match Everton career – and where he returned so often after his playing days had ended.The life and legacy of Kevin Campbell will be celebrated at a Memorial Service, organised by Everton Football Club, at St Luke’s Church on Goodison Road next week. Kevin’s time with the Everton Football Club was extremely significant in history. He treasured the derby match winner he scored at the Kop End in 1999—the only winning goal an Everton player had scored at Anfield in 22 years—and was incredibly happy to be elected our first black captain in 2001.
However, the service is being organized to honor Kevin the man as much as it is to recognize his achievements on the field.
The tributes paid to Kevin before and during the last home game against Bournemouth, as well as the outpouring of love that followed his tragic death at the far too young age of 54, demonstrated the regard and respect in which he was held.
