Leroy Sane, a top player for Bayern Munich and a past Premier League winner, is reportedly being pursued by Newcastle.
The summer proved frustrating for the Magpies, as they had four bids for the England international rejected, but were unable to sign Marc Guehi, their top target from Crystal Palace.
Positively, Eddie Howe’s team has won seven of its first three games and has managed to hang onto important players Anthony Gordon, Bruno Guimaraes, and Alexander Isak.
Newcastle plotting move for Sane
In order to ensure that they would not violate profit and sustainability regulations, Newcastle was compelled to sell midfielder Elliot Anderson and young player Yankuba Minteh. The Magpies intend to bolster their roster in the upcoming transfer windows.
Howe’s side have been in the market for a winger and are reported to have had a late bid for Nottingham Forest’s Anthony Elanga rejected, and were supposed to be interested in Chelsea’s Noni Madueke although nothing materialised.
With Sane’s contract expiring in the summer, GIVEMESPORT has revealed that the Magpies are monitoring his circumstances at Bayern.
The source also states that Arsenal is considering a move for the Germany international, who is scheduled to speak with Bayern; however, it is believed that he would have to accept a wage reduction in order to stay with the team.
Since Michael Olise moved to the broad areas this summer, there is more competition, and Sane could decide it’s time for a change of pace.
During his tenure with Manchester City, the 28-year-old won the Premier League twice. He made 135 appearances for the team, tallying 39 goals and dishing out 43 assists.
The winger has made 175 appearances since joining Bayern in 2020, netting 48 goals and dishing out 50 assists.
Sane would fit in nicely on the right side if Newcastle could pull off a deal for him. However, if he is to finalize a move to St James’ Park, he would probably need to take a salary reduction from his reputed £325,000 per week.
