DALLAS: Klay Thompson has made it clear to everyone how much he wanted to spend the offseason in Dallas. In addition to choosing the Dallas Mavericks over the Los Angeles Lakers in the free agent market, Thompson checked in with the franchise legend, as is customary for any considerate player heading to a new club. Before speaking with the media, Dirk Nowitzki, the modest and giving man he has been since moving to Dallas in 1998, responded to inquiries from young fans via Chime, the event’s sponsor.
Nowitzki maintains his shine on the floor and maintains his composure off of it, just like he demonstrated throughout his 21 years in Dallas. The grand host praised the media before the event for spreading the news about the new location, which was a departure from prior years. Rather than a sweltering afternoon in the sun, the competitors and spectators mingled in a controlled environment. The temperature in the building was hot enough to melt your sorbet if you weren’t cautious, but it was cold enough to hold it together for a little while. It seemed inevitable that the conversation would turn to basketball after the location and event details were addressed. Nowitzki, of course, had something to say about Thompson joining the Mavericks.
“His heart is large. A few months ago, I texted him. Nowitzki remarked, “I wanted to welcome him to the city and the Mavericks.” “I contacted him again after that to ask if he wanted to come out. I had no idea if he was a skilled tennis player. I desired for him to visit and become acquainted with the locals.” Nowitzki made known Thompson’s desire to join the Mavs family and, in a way, his own. Thompson reportedly ate supper with Nowitzki and his family at their house, according to the Mavs icon.
Thompson is a four-time champion and well-established veteran, but he’s new to the area. Who better to greet you with open arms than the all-time greatest player in team history and an NBA superstar overall? Although Thompson did not play with Nowitzki for the Mavericks, he enjoyed representing Team Dirk in the charity game. After Thompson choose the Mavs in free agency, he embraced Dallas. The city, which is eager for championship success and has Nowitzki’s endorsement, feels the same way about the four-time NBA champion.
