After Newcastle United defeated Wolverhampton Wanderers 2-1 in a thrilling comeback, Bruno Guimaraes praised the club as one that “never gives up.”
With their third victory in four games, the Magpies climbed to third place in the Premier League standings, but they had to earn it the hard way in the Black County.

Eddie Howe’s team got out to a strong start, but in the 36th minute, they gave up the lead when Jorgen Strand Larsen outran Dan Burn down the left, and Joao Gomes skillfully dummied his low cross, allowing Mario Lemina to tap it in.

Newcastle didn’t draw even until the 75th minute, and their point came with a tremendous stroke of luck when Fabian Schar’s long-range strike ricocheted off Craig Dawson and over goalie Sam Johnstone.

Five minutes later, Harvey Barnes found himself in the winner’s net as he cut inside and curled a fantastic effort into the upper right corner.

Even yet, Howe’s team had to exert a lot of effort in the last moments to win. After rolling his ankle, Bruno Guimaraes required replacement. This meant that there were no substitutes remaining when Lewis Hall pulled up with cramps, so the left-back made a quick appearance as a center-forward.

“Victory for the team that never gives up!!!! Always for you, NUFC,” captain Guimaraes wrote on social media. Let’s keep going, guys! What a comeback.” Newcastle have made their best start to a Premier League season since 1995-96 under Kevin Keegan. Next up is another away game, this time at Fulham on Saturday, and Guimaraes will be hoping to shake off his ankle knock.
